Introducing the Seagate FreeAgent Theater+
I am convinced that the next major expansion in home electronics is going to be in the area of High Definition media players. With more and more people taking digital photos and “backing up” their music and video libraries to computers and external drives, there is a need for simple yet powerful devices to connect this digital content to your home theater system (even if that theater is just a TV).
In the past few months, we have looked at a couple devices that can help move your multimedia files from your PC to your home theater. The Western Digital TV Live and the Patriot Box Office both had tremendous performance and value for the money. Today, we look at Seagate’s next-generation home theater solution designed to easily connect your multimedia library to your living room.
The FreeAgent Theater+ HD media player is designed to provide an easy way to enjoy, view, and store your photos, movies and music from your computer or attached storage to your TV. The Theater+ utilizes a docking station that is designed specifically for Seagate’s FreeAgent Go portable hard drive. This provides a really easy way to connect your external hard drive to your home entertainment center.
The Seagate FreeAgent Theater+ includes two extra USB ports for connecting USB storage devices. For network connectivity, the Theater+ has an 10/100 Ethernet port and you can get an optional 802.11n wireless adapter. The FreeAgent Theater+ is designed to play almost every popular audio and video format, from AVI to MKV, to MP3 to OGG.
